Jy is die herfsee op Hermanus as dit sonnig-stil en mistig is,
Wintersneeu op Hexrivier se berge as die wingerd rus,
‘n Lemoenboord op Clanwilliam wat in die lente bloei,
Die gladde somerstrand by Wildernis
Megan and Josua chose Wakkerstroom for their wedding day because it had been written into their story long before they planned their union. Adventurers at heart they have travelled many Kilo-meters in their Landy and in this town they have shared special times with family and friends and of course their love for nature made it a perfect choice.
Wakkerstroom is a small town in Mpumalanga and lies on the border of Kwa-Zulu Natal. It is a combination of all the lush grassiness of Natal and the coolness of the Highveld. If birding is your thing, this is the place to be, however if birding is your thing Wakkerstroom should be no secret to you!
Although I love birds too, I love Wakkerstroom for another attribute and that is when I come over that mountain and drive into Wakkerstroom there is this serenity that I cannot explain. Everything is slower, more quiet and people have time to say hello. And those dirt roads in town are so cool!
These two lovers had the perfect day, considering the very wet weekend before, it was sunshine and joy all around. Megan with her calm beauty and Josua with his sincere happiness made the loveliest pair.
Megan was driven by her father in one of his beautifully preserved vintage cars to the NG church which has graced Wakkerstroom since 1888! Papillon hosted their reception with loads of merriment good food and the best speeches! The rest is history and hers. Before you scroll through their memories I just wanted to share these words from Josua, he spoke with so much love and sincerity to his wife Megan. It was a beautiful moment and I was glad to have shared in. Haha! More liked witnessed. Enjoy!
From Josua:
There are two stories to be told inside each one of us. The story of our past and the story of our future.
The story of our past is our base, our foundation. The story of our future is what we choose to build on top of it. They are two separate pieces of our lives; one the impenetrable, unyielding truth, the other a shifting developing question.
The story of one’s past is full of misfortune and mistakes, a tragic tale, a melodrama. It however has no hold on the story of your future. We can write a new story at any time. A story of grace, of courage and kindness, the kind of tale that keeps the reader entranced, warm and smiling, unable to put it down. A tale of adventure, righteous decisions, exemplary growth and honourable conduct.
To love someone deeply gives you strength. But being loved by someone deeply gives you courage.
As we took our vows tonight, together we are courageously writing the first paragraphs of our future.I still remember seeing you for the first time.
When I saw you first, it took
Every ounce of me not to kiss you.
When I saw you laugh, it took
Every ounce of me not to love you
And when I saw your soul,
it took every ounce of me.
