Bash and René traveled from Singapore to celebrate their wedding in the stunning Stellenbosch Winelands of South Africa. With René originally from South Africa, it was the perfect place to gather their closest family and friends for a celebration filled with love, laughter, and breathtaking scenery.
The Venue: Zorgvliet Estate – A Slice of Heaven in Stellenbosch
Zorgvliet Estate, located just a short 7-kilometer drive from Stellenbosch central, provided the perfect setting for their big day. Surrounded by the majestic Simonsberg Mountains, this estate is the epitome of elegance and charm, making it an ideal location for couples seeking a picturesque wedding destination. One of the many benefits of Zorgvliet is its convenience – the entire wedding party could get ready on-site, ensuring a seamless and stress-free experience. Getting Ready: Relaxed and Full of Joy
When I arrived, there was a calm and joyful energy in the air. Some guests were lounging by the pool, soaking in the warm summer day. Meeting Bash was a delight – he has an easygoing, charismatic presence that immediately puts people at ease. His groomsmen matched his vibe, making the preparations lighthearted and fun.
A little down the road, René was getting ready with her sisters. The bond between them was undeniable, filled with laughter, champagne popping, and reminiscing about their journey together. Being the last of the three sisters to get married made the moment even more special. With everyone getting ready on the estate, there was no need to travel between venues, allowing the day to flow effortlessly.
The Ceremony: A Blend of Cultures and Love
Zorgvliet’s custom resident bus transported René and her bridesmaids to the ceremony site, nestled between the vineyards. With the summer sun shining down, it was the perfect December day for a wedding.
René’s brother-in-law officiated the ceremony, making it deeply personal and meaningful. Guests joined in singing a hymn, adding to the heartfelt atmosphere. When it was time to exchange vows, Bash incorporated a meaningful Jewish tradition by breaking the glass – a moment met with cheers and celebration.
The Celebration: Music, Joy, and an Unforgettable Atmosphere
After the ceremony, guests were treated to a vibrant atmosphere created by the incredible Kirya Kuti Project. Their unique Afro-beat music infused the air with energy, and they even handed out percussion instruments to the kids, making it an interactive and joyous experience. The cheese wheel cake was a hit, perfectly paired with drinks and lively conversation.
Following family portraits and bridal party photos, it was time for golden-hour couple photos. Bash and René were pure magic together – their love, humour, and tenderness made every shot effortlessly beautiful. The sunset painted in warm golden hues, creating the dreamiest atmosphere for their portraits.
The Reception: A Night of Love, Laughter, and Celebration
As the newlyweds made their grand entrance, Kirya Kuti’s saxophonist set the tone for an electric evening. The atmosphere was nothing short of spectacular! Speeches were filled with love, laughter, and a few happy tears, with Bash charming everyone, especially the little ones who absolutely adore their “Uncle Bash.”
Then came the first dance – a sweet moment shared with all their loved ones. The dance floor quickly filled with high-energy moves, spontaneous dance-offs, and an ice cream hand-out that kept everyone refreshed between dances. The night was a true celebration of love, family, and friendship.
